Why It’s Important to Develop a Sleep Routine

Research has shown that an irregular sleep schedule may result in not only less sleep but also a lower quality of sleep. I’m sure you’d much rather get 6 hours of restful sleep than 8 hours of tossing and turning.

People who don’t sleep well are more likely to suffer from a number of issues, such as:

  • Heart disease

  • Obesity

  • Diabetes

  • Irritability

  • Reduced productivity

  • And more.

Sleep is an essential aspect of bodily recovery. Putting your body under stress without giving it time to recover can lead to mental and physical fatigue (or even sickness). This is even more important to remember as a woman because your hormones are constantly changing from week to week.

Although the rollercoaster ride of estrogen and progesterone throughout your cycle can significantly impact your quality of sleep, a consistent sleep routine can help keep these changes from wrecking too much havoc on your body.
